Categories > Escargot
This is a vast category. Yet, always snail-shaped in design. Excluding BUTTONS, they date back to 1880. The earliest are light and almost button like as their predecessors were and then to the opposite extreme — very heavy and bulky. It happened quickly within about ten years ( i.e.1880 to 1890 ) that they became lighter and with fewer parts for production reasons. Thus making the first ten years of issues, very collectable and rare. For those who like the different stamps there were many wholesalers names to look for. We have found escargots made in quite a few countries, so many more will come to light. Perhaps more variable than any other whistle, rivaling round whistles and further.
