SPOTLIGHT (Whistle Research Articles)

The Whistle Gallery’s featured Spotlight articles seek to focus attention on various topics/areas of discussion in the whistle collecting community. Please feel free to write, send pictures and perhaps share some information that will contribute to the world scene. We always give credit for what is sent in and we are able to include in the Spotlight article. You can read through articles in the order of date of posting or narrow down your search with our folders!

Spotlight Types by Folder

Special Editions
– Articles featuring a single whistle, to highlight its significance, to show the correlation to certain types/models of whistles.
The A List
– New articles highlighting the PATENT-WHISTLE-DOCUMENT.
For example: All 3 types of sirens dated to 1895 from the USA, Germany and the UK, we feature the patents, actual sirens, and related documents in various articles.
Whistle Categories
– Navigating the vast array of whistles and their names can be difficult, to help we breakdown the types and categories in detail.
For example, conical may be more accurate than beaufort, but the latter one more established in the whistle community.

Research
– A mixed bag to help you in your studies designed to answer questions about your whistles, ways to assess their value, literature to seek and actual whistle articles.
Whistle Makers by Country of Origin
– Many makers made different models so that you don’t have to search through all the categories page. This as been further broken down by geography.
Collectors and Collections
– Peer into major known whistle collectors and their approach to their own collections.
